Our Mission Had Been To
-
Provide cultural enrichment through exposure to all art media and arts-related activities.
-
Raise public awareness of art and promote appreciation and support for the arts among residents and businesses.
-
Provide community pride in our downtown and encourage the growth of arts-related businesses there.
-
Educate children and adults in the creation and appreciation of both the visual and literary arts.
-
Promote and participate in public art programs taking place at the Gallery and with other agencies and arts organizations.
The Gallery, a non-profit organization, was a cultural enhancement, promoting the work of local, regional and international artists and artisans, and bringing the visual and literary arts to communities within the Greater Tampa Bay area.
The Gallery strived to educate our residents about the diversity, talent and creativity of our Fine Artists and to impart the importance of supporting the arts in our city. We still believe a strong Arts and Cultural movement in our downtown would strengthen our economy and make our town a better, more interesting place in which to live. The Gallery had presented monthly themed exhibits, featured artists and art groups, student exhibitions, and offered a variety of arts-related workshops and literary events such as an Evening with the Author and Poetry Night, monthly, which will be missed.
The Gallery hosted competitions throughout the year, specifically the Annual Members' Exhibit and People's Choice Awards, wherein the public selected their favorite artwork in selected categories and the winners were awarded ribbons and prizes. Also each year, the Gallery hosted a Poetry Competition, which was open to the public for 8 years.
The staff of the Gallery, past and present, believe these missions will appear again in our community and hopefully in the near
future.
